Meet Alejandro De Hoyos
Alejandro De Hoyos is a Mexican-born actor and producer and the founder of Alta California Pictures, a production company dedicated to character-driven, story-first filmmaking. Born in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, Alejandro moved with his family to Acapulco, where he attended high school and began building his entrepreneurial path, working at some of the city’s most popular clubs. By the age of twenty-two, he was hired to manage Magic Circus, the largest private nightclub in Mexico City.
A natural businessman from a young age, Alejandro produced numerous live and televised kickboxing competitions, including a heavyweight world title event. He also booked major performers from the 1980s, including Sylvester, José José, Lupita D’Alessio, and Alberto Cortez. While continuing to grow his business ventures, his passion for acting never left him. At thirty, he made the decisive move to formally study and pursue acting, launching the next chapter of his career.
Alejandro’s television credits include The Bold and the Beautiful, Air America, General Hospital, Sin Vergüenza, Ylse, Bosch Legacy, and I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson. His film credits span studio features and independent projects, including Clear and Present Danger, GB 2525, El Contratista, Free Dead or Alive, The Man from Toronto, Trigger Warning, and The Contractor. He has appeared in over 250 commercials, including an award-winning campaign for Northwestern Mutual directed by acclaimed cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki.
In 2016, he founded Alta California Pictures and produced its first feature, El Contratista. He later starred in and produced The Unexpecteds, a comedy that screened at festivals and earned Best Comedy at Smodcastle, with Kevin Smith serving as executive producer.
With a career that bridges business, performance, and production, Alejandro brings a grounded, authentic presence to every role. Through Alta California Pictures, he continues to develop and produce projects centered on strong performances, meaningful relationships, and cinematic storytelling, working seamlessly in front of and behind the camera.
